I am not sure if you have heard of the documentary called "The September Issue" it is about the most powerful woman in fashion, Ann Wintour, the editor of the American edition of Vogue, she has been the editor since 1988, and by now it has become commonplace to call her the most powerful woman in fashion. My husband and I watched it the other night and WOW, completely blown away by how one woman has such influence over what is 'in' and what goes out! She has the final say in fashion and has more influence over the fashion industry world wide than you could ever imagine.
“You can make a film in Hollywood without Steven Spielberg's blessing, and you can publish software without Bill Gates's blessing, but you can't succeed in fashion without Anna's blessing”
Devil Wear Prada (one of my most fav movies of all time) is a true story, Meryl Streeps character was based on Ann and the story was was inspired by the author, Lauren Weisberger's experience as Ann Wintours assistant.
After watching this documentary I have a new found love for Vogue and respect for Ann. She is incredible, with her brittle despot in round Chanel sunglasses she rules the world with her impeccable taste, terror and sarcasm.
