glambox arrived ...

First Glambox arrived. Hmmm wasn't too impressed when I opened the box. I dont use any of these products so was a bit nervous to try them ... Well, thank goodness I did because each of them, in their own way, are pretty great! See my mini review on each one below:

1. Like Silk make up remover: The product is great, does the job & afforable at R35.99 but I think I prefer my Nivea make up remover.

2.  Parisienne by Yves Saint Laurent: YUM! Smells DELISH but the scent doesnt seem to last the whole day which is disapointing! Would have bought this in a heart beat!

3. ELANCYL Toning Foaming Scrub: LOVE this scrub! Definitely will buy this full size product when this little sample is finished!

4. Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Plump Perfect Ultra Lift & Firm Moisture Cream SPF 30: Fantastic cream! Not sure whether it gave me a 'face lift' or anything but loved that it was SPF 30, you dont usually find creams with such a high SPF.

5. Anew Clinical Eye lift Pro by Avon: I was stoked to have been given this product, firstly because it was a full size product (valued ar R245.00) AND I had JUST finished my eye cream. Perfect timing and pretty great product too! Definitely made my Glam box subscribtion for the month worth it!

summer sorbets

Delish, summer lovin sorbets - fat free and made by YOU! :)

To Make:
Add all ingredients to a high speed/high quality blender.
Tip: slightly thaw the frozen fruit so that it easily blends - but is still frosty.
Blend until smooth - do not overblend. You do not want to "melt" the mixture. Keep it as thick and frosty as possible.
Pour into freezer-friendly container. Chill until firm. Scoop and serve!

Strawberry Banana 1 1/2 cups frozen strawberries
1 1/2 bananas (fresh)
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup maple syrup

Pineapple Banana 2 bananas (fresh)
1 1/2 cups frozen pineapple
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup maple syrup
optional sub: try coconut milk instead of lemon juice for an ultra creamy sorbet (not fat free)

Zippy Wild Blueberry 1 1/2 cups frozen wild blueberries
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup maple syrup
1 banana (fresh)
optional: 1/2 tsp ginger powder or grated fresh ginger OR dash of cayenne

Spicy Mango 1 1/2 cups frozen mango
1 banana (fresh)
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup maple syrup
a few dashes of cayenne powder

Ingredient subs: You can easily substitute the maple syrup with agave syrup. And the lemon juice can be subbed with lime juice. A hint of citrus zest is also a nice touch.

glambox vs rubybox

I heard about Glambox a while ago but after reading through Chicara's blog, lipgloss kisses (one of my new fav's) and her reviews on the products received I decided to sign up. Glambox is a fab way of trying new cosmetic products. For R100 a month you get delivered a box filled with 5 luxurious products straight to your door. Brands such as Kerastase, Lancome, Revlon, Smashbox and the likes. Chicara also introducted me to another company which does the same called Rubybox but they have different brands such as Africology, Crabtree & Evelyn, Diesel, Elizabeth Arden, Loreal, Biz Buin, Guess to name a few also R100 a month. I love the concept but not sure which of the two I would like to sign up to so have decided to sign up for both for next month to compare. Will let you know the verdict!*
