bold & stripey

Stripes are one of the few patterns found in every women's closet! I just LOVE the way Mango, (using the colour block trend) have combined bold accessories & vibrant colors to provide a fantastically fresh, new & fashion-forward way to wear them! Too gorgeous!*

... perch

I LOVE these perch designs! How gorgeous are the Letter Lights and the Bonnie & Clyde salt & pepper set!

Make a wish and place it in your heart. Anything you want, everything you want. Do you have it? Good. Now believe it can come true. You never know where the next miracle is going to come from. The next smile, the next wish come true. But if you believe that it’s right around the corner, and you open up your heart and mind to the possibility of it, to the certainty of it, you just might get the thing you’re wishing for. The world is full of magic. You just have to believe in it.
So make your wish. Do you have it? Good. Now believe in it, with all of your heart.

My husband and I are on the house hunt ...  and this is my ONLY request
(okay, not only, I have a whoooole list of things I want for our new home but this is definitely one of the TOP!)

But on another note, shesh! I must say, we have been horrified at the amount of people who have absolutely NO 'house- pride' and absolutely NO taste for decor. I mean you dont have to be a millionaire to make the place look good. It saddens me to see how some people live ... Bladdy hell people, buy a couple home decor mags and get some inspiration!

my pottery creations

Here are some more of my pottery creations*
Gravy / Bar-one (has to be) chocolate sauce jug & personalised tea mugs I made for my hubs & I - this was before I found the personalised ones at @home!

Oh and, Grant's one isn't smaller than mine so dont go thinking I'm a tea greedy guts- its just the camera angle, they both the same size :) Oh # 2 - My hubby tells me his tea "tastes sooo much better in THIS cup" sweet hey? Adore him!

happy africa day*

Happy Africa Day!*
And to commemorate it- Going to showcase these amazing African inspired fabrics from the Design Team Fabrics.
Their fabrics are out of this world!!

You can find them at 197 Brand Rd, Glenwood (Durban). They usually have a table at the monthly Durban I heart market OR, you can simply purchase any Ikhaya goodies online HERE

the best chocolate chip cookie

Origin: “Baking: From My Home To Yours” by Dorie Greenspan
Makes about 45 cookies
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 to 12 minutes

Ingredients:
● 2 cups all purpose flour
● 1 tsp. salt
● 3/4 tsp. baking soda
● 2 sticks unsalted butter at room temp
● 1 cup sugar
● 2/3 cup light brown sugar
● 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
● 2 large eggs
● 12 oz. bittersweet chocolate (I used 2 cups store-bought chocolate chips)
● 1 cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
1. Preheat oven 200 degrees. Line baking sheets with parchment or spray with cooking spray.
2. Whisk the flour, salt, and baking soda together.
3. Beat the butter on medium speed for about 1 minute until smooth (you can use a stand mixer, but I don’t have one so I used a hand mixer). Add the sugars and beat for another 2 minutes, until well blended. Beat in the vanilla. Add the eggs one at a time, beating for1 minute after each egg goes in. Reduce the mixer speed to low and add the dry ingredients in 3 portions, mixing only until each addition is incorporated. By hand with a wooden spoon, mix in the chocolate and nuts. The dough can be covered and refrigerated for up to 3 days. (Normally, I put it in the fridge for just a half an hour just to firm it up but this time I couldn’t wait- tell me who would!? )
4. Spoon the dough by slightly rounded tablespoonful onto the baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between spoonfuls.
5. Bake the cookies one sheet at a time and rotating the sheet at the midway point- for 10 or 12 minutes, or until they brown at the edges and are golden in the center. Pull sheet from oven and allow the cookies to rest for 5 minutes, then transfer to racks to cool to room temperature.

LOVE this ensemble!*

carolina herrera's 10 style rules to live by:

1.  A full-length mirror is the most important accessory a woman can own.
2.  Do not be afraid to wear color. A woman who walks into a room full of black dresses wearing red, pink or orange is stunning and everyone turns to look.
3.  Trends make everyone look as though they are wearing a uniform. It is best to wear what is most individually flattering and appropriate for the occasion.
4.  A crisp white shirt looks wonderful for the day or evening; every woman should have one they love in their closet.
5.  It’s important to dress for your age. What looked good at 15 will not look good at 40.
6.  Don’t forget to be feminine. Glamour and elegance are always something that attracts attention.
7.  Dress according to your personality.
8.  Your hair and makeup are always very important.
9.  If you don’t have taste, you will never be stylish. Style is a state of mind. It is how you live, how you wear your clothes, what you read and what you love. It has nothing to do with money.
10. Be mysterious. Mystery is the most important quality for a woman. Elegance is an attitude.
